Master Trainer Strategy Week: Advancing Agribusiness Training through Inclusion, Innovation and Impact

Climate resilience, Events & Cooperation, Trainings

From 13 to 17 October 2025, Ghana will host 60 Master Trainers from 17 countries for the Master Trainer Strategy Week 2025. This five-day event will unite some of the continent’s most experienced agribusiness trainers to chart the future of agricultural capacity building and to host the first in-person General Assembly of the International Agribusiness Practitioners Association (IAPA), a new Pan-African institution for agribusiness training and advisory services.

The Strategy Week marks a step toward sustaining and expanding high-quality agribusiness training beyond the lifespan of individual projects. By anchoring the Advisory Helpdesk for agribusiness training within IAPA, Africa’s Master Trainer Network gains a permanent, Africa-led platform to share expertise, foster innovation, and support farmers and value-chain actors in building climate-smart, inclusive businesses. This milestone ensures that proven methods and innovations pioneered under the Agri-Business Facility for Africa (ABF) will continue to thrive well into the future.

Throughout the week, participants will sharpen their expertise on gender equality, youth engagement, inclusion, climate resilience, biodiversity, e-learning, monitoring and evaluation, and post-training support. They will review updated content for the Training of Trainers, explore the innovative Personal Initiative approach to strengthen post-training entrepreneurship, and form a task force to develop new training resources. The gathering will also host IAPA’s first in-person General Assembly, where members will map out the steps required to make the association fully operational and ready to serve a growing pan-African network.

About IAPA
The International Agribusiness Practitioners Association is the formalized Agribusiness Master Trainer Network, established in 2017 by GIZ. IAPA will take over the Advisory Helpdesk for agribusiness trainings developed by GIZ and ensure the continuation and growth of these approaches. This transition reflects a strong commitment to Africa-driven solutions and sustainable capacity development.

The Strategy Week is organized by ABF, a GIZ project commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) and co-funded by the European Union under the Samoa Agreement with the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).
